Truman Tops Chargers 2-1 Behind Pair of Late Goals

Harry S. Truman scored a pair of late goals to defeat the Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team 2-1 on Monday afternoon.
After a scoreless opening half, Arlen Navarro (Miami, Fla./Sports Leadership & Management) put the Chargers (6-6-2 overall, 4-6-2 Region IV) on top in the 67th minute with an assist from Mohamed Elshafie (Miami, Fla./Immaculata LaSalle).
The Falcons (5-4-1, 5-4-1), though, leveled the match on Kadeem Boothe’s goal in the 73rd minute and scored the game-winner off the foot of Samy Bouchama in the 79th minute.
Truman outshot the Chargers 13-6 overall and had eight shots on goal to Sandburg’s five.
Iker Sanchez (Miami, Fla./Immaculata LaSalle) and Felipe Petry (Barao, Brazil/Instituto Estadul de Educacao) combined to make seven saves for the Chargers.
